Message from the Chancellor
Standing at the gateway of the 21st century, we are witnessing how domain specific education is profoundly altering our choice of careers and the landscape of our workplaces. To dominate Corporate India, emerging sectors like media and Communication, Applied Sciences, Retail, Fashion, Design, Hospitality, Travel and Tourisum and Technology are also taking their place under the sun. They are experiencing high growth and a demand for specialized skills to take on the current as well as its future challenges.It gives me great pleasure to present to you UTM, University of Technology and Management, Shillong that is conceived and designed to impart high quality education to students in response to the growing need of skills. The University offer domain specific courses to develop a talent pool of highly skilled technical manpower required in these sectors and also in the process aim to contribute significantly in the economic development of North-East India and the nation as a whole.
UTM also endeavors to bring together diverse fields and utilize the synergies within its various course streams so that varied opinions and approaches flourish and a task-force like approach to problem solving emerges. In the process of learning UTM aim at providing students with an exposure in not just their specialized fields, but also create a broader horizon of opportunities in their chosen profession.
In conclusion, let me say that UTM will look beyond the frontiers of formal and traditional education and hope to emerge and be recognized in the coming years as a place of shaping and creating the next generation professionals.
